Glyconutrients 101

There are over 200 sugars or carbohydrate found in nature. However only 8 of these 200 make up what scientist have recently classified as Glyconutrients.

The 8 sugars are:
  • xylose
  • fucose
  • galactose
  • glucose
  • mannose
  • N-acetylglucosamine
  • N-acetylgalactosamine
  • N-acetylneuraminic acid (a sialic acid)

Glyconutrients come from the earth, they can not be synthetically created. Glyconutrients can be found in nature. However there are only 2 that appear in our modern diet on a consistent basis, glucose and galactose.

Glyconutrients play a key role in assisting our bodies natural communication process at the cellular level. Our cells are constantly talking to each other to evaluate wither or not the neighboring cell is healthy or unhealthy.

Think of cellular communication as the foundation of health. When our cells have the raw material needed to communicate properly they can do an amazing job at keeping your body healthy. On the flip side, when our cells are not able to communicate properly many health challenges can arise.

You could be eating a fairly healthy diet and even using the best vitamin and mineral supplements available, but if your cell don't know what to do with the nutrition you will benefit far less from your healthy lifestyle efforts. This is exactly why I recommend supplementing with glyconutrients before investing in vitamin and  mineral supplements.

Glyconutrients give your cells the building block to effectively do their job. Spreading nutrition to where its needed most is one of those jobs.

Although its not impossible to get all 8 of these sugars through your diet, it would be very costly as well as time consuming. In addition, since these sugars all come from living things in nature you would literally have to consume them within a one to two hour time period after extraction. After this window of time the sugar die or  become inactive, at that point they will no longer benefit you.

You might be asking “If these sugars become inactive after 2 hours of extracting how would a supplement containing these 8 sugars be beneficial?” The only way a supplement will be effective is if its stabilized and standardized. Otherwise they will have very little benefit inside the body.
